When people hear the name Zephyrhills, they often think of the water.
But for those of us who live here, it’s so much more than that.
Zephyrhills, Florida is a place built on relationships. It’s a town where people still wave to each other on Main Street. Where families walk downtown for ice cream or pizza. Where neighbors look out for one another — not because they have to, but because that’s just how things work here.
That sense of connection is something I grew up with, and something I deeply value.
It’s also why I wanted to begin this series here — with the heart of the community itself.
Why Zephyrhills
Zephyrhills sits between Tampa and Lakeland, close enough to enjoy everything a major city offers, but far enough to keep its own pace. We’re about 45 minutes from Tampa, which means easy access to one of the top airports in the country, professional sports, concerts, dining, and cultural events.
At the same time, we come home to quieter streets, open space, and familiar faces.
You can reach the beaches, Orlando, and major attractions without much effort. But what makes people stay isn’t the proximity — it’s the balance. Life in Zephyrhills still feels human. It feels manageable. It feels connected.
That balance is rare, and it’s worth protecting.
Why I’m Sharing These Stories
Growth is happening in Zephyrhills. That’s a reality.
With growth comes opportunity — but also responsibility. I believe that how we talk about our town matters. The stories we choose to tell matter. And the way we show up during times of change matters even more.
This project exists for one simple reason:
To be part of the solution, not the problem.
That means honoring the people who were here before the growth. Supporting local businesses and local voices. Respecting the history of this town while being honest about its future.
